Von Kapstadt bis Windhuk: "Hottentotten" oder Khoekhoen? Die Rehabilitierung einer Völkergruppe Autor: Hermann Forkl, mit Beiträgen von Monika Firla. 157 Seiten, farbige Abbildungen, 21 x 29,7 cm. (price incl. VAT, additionally shipping costs) Der Katalog zeigt Geschichte, Leben und Alltag der Khoekhoen und erinnert an Ihre Niederlage (Groß-Nama in Namibia) im Freiheitskrieg 1903-08 gegen die deutsche Kolonialherrschaft. Die deutsche „Schutztruppe“ inhaftierte die meisten Nama in Konzentrationslagern, in denen auch Kinder Zwangsarbeit verrichten mussten. In diesen Lagern herrschten schlechte klimatische, wohnliche und hygienische Bedingungen, die - gepaart mit Mangelernährung - zu meist tödlichen Erkrankungen führten. Gemäß der UN-Konvention von 1948 werden diese Handlungen heute als Völkermord eingestuft, ähnlich dem an den Herero. Historiker schätzen, dass über die Hälfte der damals etwa 20.000 Nama ums Leben kam. Sorry, no English version available
